Dear Bangladeshi citizens and families in SL,

Greetings from the High Commissioner.

Further to the SMS that the High Commission sent to all BANGLADESHI nationals on Sunday morning, notwithstanding what you would come across in the public domain and media, based on our interactions with authorities and various quarters, we would like to advise all to be cautious in your movements beyond your home /residence - as you may need to go to shopping place or workplace.

Frankly, there is an unannounced public alert for today, and it may extend to few more days. Should any of you feel like reaching us, pl call up for assessment. Should any of you receive any information or any quarter as well, you may please choose to do so.

Without details, let us also tell you all that the High Commissioner is in close contact with various quarters, including top echelons of the Government, in dealing with certain situation that had arisen in the past days since last Sunday. These have been handled quietly, to the best of the abilities of the Mission and full knowledge of the authorities back in Dhaka.

As for today, the High Commission would reiterate the 'request' from the SL Govt to avoid Friday Jumma prayers, today.

With best regards,

Hazrat Ali khan
Counsellor
